Only 5% of visitors to the Grand canyon actually trek into the canyon!
Along with our guides Tank and P.J. students and teachers made a 5 hour trek down into and up out of the Grand Canyon. As our guides pointed out, of the MILLIONS of visitors who come to the grand canyon every year only 5% actually trek into the canyon! The I.S.M. can now proudly say that we are part of that exclusive 5%.
With every step into the canyon we are taken back 10 THOUSAND years back in time in geological terms. On the way down we were shown examples of plants used by the native peoples for medicinal purposes, for cooking and even for sewing!
We treked to a vantage point where we were given a presentation by our guides on the Grand Canyon.
How was the Grand Canyon formed??
DUDE!
D.U.D.E.
What does that stand for? Can you guess? Ask one of the exchange students on their return or watch their presentation in the middle school soon!!
